Dion Pomponio, CPA, CGA

Principal

Dion grew up on the BC North Coast in Prince Rupert. Moving to Victoria in 1989, Dion studied at Camosun College and articled at the accounting firm, Firth & Stouwer. Dion began public practice in 1990, attaining his accounting designation in 1994. Since then, he has worked as an accountant in the greater community, serving on audit and finance committees for various non-profit organizations. Dion has offered seminars for the Bookkeepers Association as well as owners of small businesses and rental property owners. Owning and managing his own accounting firm, Pomponio & Company, Dion is kept very busy. However, Dion also dedicates time to volunteer with the homebound, youth, and other groups in in the local community. And, when the weather becomes nice, Dion enjoys hiking and camping trips with his family. 

Michael Jones, CPA, BBA

Senior Accountant, Manager

Born and raised in Victoria, Michael earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with an Accounting Major from Camosun College in April 2014. While finishing his bachelor’s degree, Michael joined Pomponio & Company in November 2013 and, in April of 2017, he received his CPA designation. Michael gives back to the CPA program by contributing time and talent by tutoring and providing council to current and potential students. In addition, he has marked cases for CPA Canada assisting CPA students as they prepare for the CFE. Michael has recently completed Parts I, II and III of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course. Michael’s experience in business structure and tax planning complement his client service focus. Outside of work, Michael enjoys golfing, hiking, and playing hockey.

Sherri Olson, CPA, CGA

Senior Accountant

Sherri was born in Victoria, BC, and moved to Hawaii where she grew up before returning to Victoria to study Business Accounting at the University of Victoria and Camosun. She earned her CPA, CGA in 1996 and has been doing bookkeeping and year ends for over 29 years. Sherri has been a Senior Accountant with Pomponio Company for 19 years. Applying her accounting expertise in various capacities throughout her local community, she has worked as a Treasurer with the Parent Advisory Council for 9 years as well as a volunteer with the Westshore Rotary Club for over 20 years. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and friends, walking her dog, and travelling the world learning about new cultures.

Anna Esquivel

Bookkeeper

Anna joined Pomponio and Company in 2015 after moving from Salt Spring Island where she performed extensive bookkeeping services through establishing personal relationships with each of her clients while raising a family of four bright young individuals and managing the financials for her family’s personal business.  When she is out of the office, she can be found gardening, biking, and baking fluffy pancakes for anyone within nose reach of the wafting smells of deliciousness.

Grace Pomponio

Bookkeeper

Grace grew up in Victoria and began working at Pomponio & Company in 2013. She received her Bookkeeping Practitioner Diploma from the Knowledge Bureau in April of 2014. Grace has maintained and expanded her accounting and taxation knowledge through attending a variety of bookkeeping, payroll, personal and corporate income tax professional development programs. She directly supports long-term clients with specialized administration services. In her free time, Grace enjoys cooking with different recipes, shopping, and undertaking various art projects.

Irene Lockwood

Client Relations Coordinator

Irene is proud to be the first Canadian in her family born to immigrant parents in Burnaby, British Columbia. Having grown up in Ottawa, Irene returned to BC in 1980 to escape the long sub-zero winters of the nation’s capital.

Irene joined Pomponio and Company in August 2018 bringing with her 25 years of administrative and financial experience. In that time, she accumulated a vast and extensive skill set allowing her to advise and service clients both efficiently and proactively. In her spare time, Irene dedicates a large majority of her time to various causes that she is passionate about. This includes being a member of “100 Women Who Care,” an organization that does great work in supporting local charities. When she does find time to relax, she enjoys nature, photography, and travelling. Moreover, she is happiest spending quality time with her two daughters, grandson, and friends.
